ZEN 2 Community

COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY

Corporate Responsibility Is Embedded In Our Business

ZEN has a responsibility to conduct operations in a manner that is safe for our people, the environment and the community. Corporate responsibility is embedded in our business strategy, as a core tenet of sustainable business practice and because it is the right thing to do.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CONDUCT BUSINESS RESPONSIBLY

As an indigenous Ghanaian company, we recognise the communities in which we operate as our own, and they give us the social license we need to operate successfully on our home turf.

ZEN therefore preserves and extends our commitment to conduct business responsibly with our ZEN 2 Community (Z2C) programs.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Community Relations policy outlines our approach to operating in a responsible and sustainable manner with our employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. Our initiatives are focused on the impact areas of education, health, safety and environment and other community engagement programs.

Our Z2C initiatives have included the ZEN/NADeF Excellence Scholarship Awards, medical supplies donations, tuition fee scholarships, the Ayanfuri Resettlement Library, an ongoing partnership with Lead For Ghana, focused on the education development in communities across Ghana, amongst others.

Z2C INITIATIVES IN FOCUS

Lead For Ghana

ZEN Petroleum announced its partnership with Lead for Ghana (LFG), a Not-for-Profit Organisation (NPO) in September 2018. Since then, ZEN has supported LFG in fulfilling its vision to eliminate educational inequity in Ghana and mission to improve education in various parts of the country while impacting students’ educational outcomes. This partnership remains the primary focus of the company’s social intervention programmes, with an annual donation of a pesewa per litre (1L,1P) of retail volumes to LFG.

ZEN Community ClassroomZEN Library Plans

Ayanfuri New Site Community Library

As part of our commitment to education and giving back to communities we operate in, ZEN Petroleum has recently completed a public library for the Perseus Mining resettlement village in Ayanfuri, located in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region. This is in fulfilment of a commitment made by ZEN during the commissioning of the resettlement community. The project also forms part of our ‘ZEN to Community’ (Z2C) social intervention programmes and saw an investment of $60,000 towards its completion. The objective of the library project is to give school children in the community the opportunity to access resources for exploratory reading and for learning, to enable them excel at school and compete with their peers at the highest level.

ZEN/NADeF Excellence Scholarship Awards

The excellence scholarship award is a partnership between Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) and ZEN Petroleum to motivate highly-driven and brilliant undergraduate Business students. The scholarship which covers academic user fees, accommodation, stipend and allowance for books is presented after careful and rigorous review of applications received from various brilliant students from Newmont’s host communities, attending various tertiary institutions with GPA of first and second class upper divisions.
